Welcome to my Site on the Net

Introduction

This is my personal site on the Internet, the above sketch I made with pen and ink. It is of a 17th century Old Believer community, the way of Life I strive for. Who am I? You may call me John Alden, which is what my earthly parents named me when I was born. What is the purpose of this site? To show how I have tested and proven Faith, of what Hope there is today and to hear from others about the same. The site is dedicated to all that is good in this world and to show what I have found of it. I will work unendingly to point out the Love Immortal, where it can be seen and also to warn of what is contrary to it.

If you would like to know some personal information about me I am happy to explain a bit. I was born in Los Angeles during the early spring of 1962. My family has lived in the USA since before it was a nation, since Plymouth Rock. I have traveled over most of the United States but have never left them yet. I now reside in San Diego, my temporary home.

A few opening disclaimers: I do not claim to be completely Christian, but only a person who hopes to be found a faithful, loving bond-slave of Christ in the final Day. To that end I am at an introductory level to the Russian Old Believers, the strict Pomorsky ones. There are still a few who practice this good old way today and I desire to be just like them. Also I would mention that it is my personal belief that manmade electricity is demonic, like a false god, and therefore this entire site is unworthy. Perhaps people may be able to glean from it something of what is right. The Internet is very antichrist, so all web pages are unacceptable to say the least. Scripture cannot be translated into unholy language like English or modern Russian, so we should not make much of the “Scripture” quotations found here. The most I can make of this website is that it is a warning to those who might begin to recognize all the dangers around us and to show things which people need to understand more completely.

This website is not possible to be perfect, how can anything be perfect that is not Orthodox? It is possible to live perfectly compared to those in this world, but it requires delineation and separation. In the effort to be Orthodox we must die from this world, our flesh and the devil. This means that I believe there will come a time in my life, soon, when I will not be using such worldly things as computers, etc. No matter who we are, we are all expected to test and prove what is right. So if you find anything that does not seem right here, or if you believe correction is needed, I would very much appreciate it if you would let me know. As the law of God is written on the hearts of each one of us, none of us has any excuse for disobeying it. My own opinion is not what matters, only the opinion of God matters.

I hope you won’t discount what I am saying here without a very good reason. I would appreciate being given any correction and if believable I will correct both the message on this site and my personal stand. I am happy to learn the correct way as I have been corrected often. I recognize that I, as well as any of us, will never know it all; but I seek after what is complete for us, what has been given to us for Life, what is good. So this site is dedicated to what is good, for goodness sake.

While browsing the rest of my site you may wonder why I chose “MyMartyrdom” as a domain name. From the 20 some years of searching to obey God I have learned that the word “martyrdom” should be understood as “witness”. So this web site is a testimony of my experience in the pursuit of obeying God above all else. After seeing my website a person suggested that I did not glorify God. To more directly show that my intention is certainly to do so, I wrote by hand “Slava Tebe Gospodi” (which is close to a transliteration) in the pure Old Slavonic lanauge. This is seen just below the sketch at the top of this page. A quasi translation might go something like, “Glory to Thee, O Lord !”, and I might add “For Everything !”.

Except for this sentence anything underlined will always be a hyperlink, where you will find more information about the word(s).

Thank you for visiting my site and you are welcome to write me anytime. If you send an email it is best if you use a subject regarding the topics found here as I frequently delete emails that seem impersonal, there is a lot of junk email out there.

Photography is sinful, as Karp the Old Believer (in the First Photos) explains.

 First Photos Page

Photography is sinful because it is a sin to gaze.

Even the ancient Christian rules for iconography say that icons cannot be gazed upon.

Photography is sinful due to the spiritually defiling man made chemicals used.

Even digital photography uses unholy man made electricty and petroleum chemicals.

So, the last photos page is every bit if not more of sin as the first.
