Znammeny Chant Manuscripts

Hook Notation Books

The first 5 books listed are from a Nikonite source that is attemting to mimic the Old-Rite, but they cannot succeed very well in this. Maybe we should not trust this source unless a strict Old Believer confirms its accuracy? If I get back my computer, and data from it, I will find the source these are from and post it here. For now this is something. I do not think it is good to change the handwritten Old Slavonic or Znammeny into any other form, but these things are already out here on the Internet (unfortunately so are we). My postition is that everyone has to start somewhere and I was born into this mess. I just want to work to correct myself and hopefully point in somewhat the right direction so that perhaps a few others might find their way out. It is possible to do it right.

Book 1 (21.2 MB PDF File)

Book 3 (13.7 MB PDF File)

Book 3 (31.6 MB PDF File)

Book 4 (14.5 MB PDF File)

Book 5 (34.2 MB PDF File)

I have other more pure examples of digitized Znammeny Chant, of Antiphons with Canons, etc. They are even from handwritten ancient manuscripts. If time allows I will add them here. I hope we all discern the times properly, but how few will?

I made this web page about some of the differences between Znammeny and other hymns, along with a page explaining something about Mesmerizing Music.
