The Tsar used Nikon to do his will, still, Nikon so over extended himself that he caused his own undoing. This too helped to bring disunity to Russia, losing face and preventing Russia mainting the Faith. From this time onward we can see that there was a definite downward plunge away from what Russia once had. The dismissal of the Patriarchal office by Peter the Great is one of many evidences of the fall of Holy Russia. We should keep our distance from things like this. Peter used Swedish Protestantism as a guide for many of his ways. Seeing how things have become, how should we think now?
